At the end of the class, the student will have an overview of perfomance tuning and operational considerations in a DB2 UB V8 and WAS V5 integrated environment, get familiar with best practices for optimal performance in such environments, and gain knowledge about how to diagnose performance problems using available tools.

  (Session management, Enterprise JavaBeans, Topology section, J2EE Connector architecture, DB2 JDBC drivers, DB2 JDBC providers, DB2 UDB connectivity with DB2 Connect)
• Operational setup
  (Environment setup (including product installation briefing); Steps to create JDBC Providers and DB2 Data Sources; DB2 EJB sample application installation and testing; Access to DB2 on z/OS by using DB2 Connect)
• WebSphere Application Server V5 performance tuning
• Monitoring and tuning of DB2 UDB V8
• DB2 UDB V8 and WAS V5 integrated performance
  (Connection pool, Prepared statement cache, Session database, Enterprise Java Beans)
